Deux vies éloignées, une même respiration. J'ai filmé le quotidien des haenyeo, plongeuses de l'île de Jeju, et celui de bergers des Pyrénées. Deux femmes dans la soixantaine, fortes, actives, porteuses d'un savoir-faire en voie de disparition. Leurs gestes et postures traduisent de longues années d'expérience ancrée à leur terre. Les matières dialoguent. Le lait blanc nourricier, les brebis blanches, la mousse de nuages blancs traversant la vallée entrent en résonance avec le noir profond et luisant de la combinaison de plongée mouillée, la mer sombre, les rochers volcaniques de Jeju. Vent, eau, arbres, laine deviennent la peau et le souffle de la terre. Mon dispositif cherche où ces deux mondes se rapprochent, et où la distance culturelle reste infranchissable. Les voix des protagonistes résonnent comme élément sonore autant qu'information ethnographique. Deux vies interdépendantes avec la nature, respirant comme une seule.
Two distant lives, one breath. I filmed the daily routines of haenyeo, Jeju Island divers, and Pyrenees shepherds. Two women in their sixties, strong, active, bearers of disappearing know-how. Their gestures and postures translate years of experience rooted in their land. Materials dialogue. Nourishing white milk, white sheep, white cloud foam crossing the valley resonate with the deep shining black of wet diving suits, dark sea, Jeju's volcanic rocks. Wind, water, trees, wool become earth's skin and breath. My approach seeks where these two worlds converge, and where cultural distance remains unbridgeable. Protagonists' voices resonate as sonic element as much as ethnographic information. Two lives interdependent with nature, breathing as one.
